  1. Our Support

Children and Young People's Counselling Service

Sheffield Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre (SRASAC) is dedicated to providing specialised, trauma-informed support for children and young people aged 4-18 years who have disclosed experiences of sexual abuse or assault. Our Children and Young People's Service (CYP) offers a safe and compassionate space for young individuals and their families to access the care and support they need.

What We Offer

Our Children and Young People's Service is designed to provide emotional and therapeutic support tailored to the unique needs of each child or young person. The services include:

  • 1:1 Therapy Sessions
Individualised sessions with qualified therapists, provided at schools, our SRASAC centre, or virtually.
  • Support for Families and Caregivers
We offer 2-3 direct work sessions with parents or caregivers to assist them in supporting their child.
  • Consultations for Professionals
Guidance for social workers, early help teams, and schools managing cases of sexual abuse.
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Support
Typically, we provide 10-session interventions but can offer extended support for more complex cases.
  • Bespoke Interventions
Interventions are designed specifically to meet the needs of each child or young person, utilising trauma-informed tools to foster empowerment.
  • Supported Onward Referrals
Assistance in accessing additional support services as needed.

Our approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and tailored to the individual needs of children and young people across Sheffield.

The CYP Service is available to children and young people aged between 4 and 18 who have made a disclosure of sexual abuse or assault. Referrals are via professionals, completing a referral form accompanied by a parental consent form (or Gillick/ Fraser competent young person consent form.)
