One-to-one wellbeing conversations are 90-minute focused conversations designed to support you with how trauma is affecting you in your daily life.

What happens in a one-to-one wellbeing conversation?

You’ll have space to focus on one or two specific difficulties that feel most important.

Your conversation will be with a trauma-informed wellbeing practitioner who understands trauma and its impact, and has knowledge of helpful resources and support available.

Together, you will:

  • Get a clearer sense of what’s going on for you
  • Look at what might help in your particular situation
  • Explore practical ideas you can use in day-to-day life
  • Identify a few things to remember that might help when things feel difficult
  • Highlight any further support or resources you might want to explore

The aim is that you leave feeling a bit more steady, better equipped, and more able to get through the day-to-day.

What these conversations are for

These conversations are designed to support you with how difficulties linked to trauma are affecting you in the present.

This isn’t about going into detail about what happened.
It’s about helping you manage the impact it’s having on your day-to-day life.

You might come with things like:

  • Panic attacks or sudden waves of anxiety
  • Trouble sleeping or recurring nightmares
  • Flashbacks or intrusive thoughts
  • Feeling overwhelmed by triggers
  • Withdrawing from people or struggling to get out
  • Finding it hard to look after yourself
  • Coping patterns that don’t feel helpful anymore

We'll listen to what's happening, talk to you about it, and develop an action plan together including strategies and resources that could be helpful.

What these conversations are not

These conversations are not counselling.

They don’t involve talking in detail about your past or processing what happened.
That space is important, and it’s what counselling is for.

These conversations focus on helping you manage the here-and-now, so things feel more doable.

Who these conversations are for

These conversations are available to existing SRASAC clients who have already had an assessment with our counselling or wellbeing service.

You may be able to access them if you are:

  • Waiting for counselling, or
  • Currently accessing our wellbeing service

They are designed for people who would benefit from a focused, practical conversation about specific difficulties, rather than ongoing therapeutic work.

They can be especially helpful while waiting for counselling, helping you feel more steady and supported in the meantime.

How it works

  • Conversations are 90 minutes
  • They can take place online or face-to-face in our centre
  • You can book up to 2 conversations if you waiting for counselling, and up to 4 conversations if you are a wellbeing service client.
  • Each conversation focuses on a specific area, rather than ongoing support, and may be with different wellbeing practitioners

Before booking, you’ll be asked to complete a short form so we can understand what you’d like support with and prepare any helpful resources.

A quick note about safety

These conversations are designed for focused wellbeing support.

We’re not able to offer them for high-risk situations such as:

  • Suicidal thoughts or plans
  • Active self-harm
  • Severe mental health crisis
  • Psychosis or significant risk concerns

If this applies to you, it’s important to access more urgent and appropriate support.

You can contact:

  • Your GP
  • NHS 111 (call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk)
  • Samaritans: call 116 123 (free, 24/7)
  • Shout: text SHOUT to 85258 (free, 24/7 text support)

If you are in immediate danger, please call 999 or go to A&E.

How do I book a session?

To book a one-to-one wellbeing conversation, please use the booking forms below.

There are two different booking forms, one for online appointments and one for face-to-face, just choose the appointment type that suits you best.

You’ll be asked to complete a few short questions about what you’d like support with. There’s no need to get this “right”, just share whatever feels most important.

This helps us come into the conversation prepared and focused on what matters most to you.

(if you can't see a booking form, try accepting our website cookies and refreshing the page as you need to do this for the form to work).
