This e-learning has been developed for professionals based in Sheffield who want to build their understanding of sexual violence, its impacts, and how to respond safely and supportively to disclosures.

The programme is divided into three bite-sized modules, each taking approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. You can work through the modules at your own pace and return to them whenever it suits you.

Module 1: Defining and Understanding Sexual Violence

This module explores what we mean by sexual violence, different types of sexual violence, what we mean by consent, and statistics around the prevalence of sexual violence in the UK and in South Yorkshire.

Module 2: The Impact of Sexual Violence

This module explores the wide-ranging impacts sexual violence can have on survivors, including emotional, psychological, physical and behavioural impacts, and an introduction to trauma. It also considers the impact of societal attitudes towards sexual violence, including rape culture, media representation and rape myths.

Module 3: Responding to a Disclosure of Sexual Violence

This module focuses on how professionals can respond safely, appropriately, and compassionately when someone discloses an experience of sexual violence. It explores supportive communication, boundaries, and the importance of believing and respecting survivors.
